This list, which is far from exhaustive, is separating and including small former soviet bloc countries, to that extent, I suppose a list like this can never be complete without mentioning every nation on earth and delineating it between south and north. I agree.

USSR and Czechoslovakia were included as countries of citizenship in the dataset in 2004; they accounted for less than 1% of the population. Serbia prior to 2001 was also included. Palestinian territories include the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.
The 196 countries of the world divide into eight regions based on their geography, mostly aligning with their continent. Groupings that don’t strictly adhere to the continent divisions separate the Middle East and North Africa from sub-Saharan Africa around cultural lines, and grouping the Caribbean and Central America separately from North and South America makes sense due to similarities based on latitudes.
